17HS8401 bi-polar stepper motors are used very commonly in a lot of 3D printers and RepRap CNC machines. It can also be used in general control machinery, automation and robotics applications. A NEMA 17 stepper motor is a stepper motor with a 1.7 x 1.7 inch (42.3 x 42.3 mm) faceplate. The motor conveniently connects via a typical 6 pin JST connector. This unit comes with a 6-pin female JST to 4 pin female header cable.

Underneath the plastic enclosure sits a 30mm diameter piezo element that is nicely enclosed with mounting holes so you can attach easily to your desired surface. The way Piezo works is by converting vibration to voltage and vise-versa, using a very thin and vibration-sensitive mesh. Meaning that it can be used as a buzzer or it can be used to detect vibrations which cause the piezo to generate analog voltage that a micro controller can read.

This breakout board for the MPS MP6500 microstepping bipolar stepper motor driver is Pololu’s latest stepper motor driver. The module has a pinout and interface that are very similar to that of our popular A4988 carriers, so it can be used as a drop-in replacement for those boards in many applications. The MP6500 offers up to 1/8-step microstepping, operates from 4.5 V to 35 V, and can deliver up to approximately 1.5 A per phase continuously without a heat sink or forced air flow (up to 2.5 A peak). This version of the board uses an on-board trimmer potentiometer for setting the current limit, and the board ships with 0.1″ male header pins included but not soldered in.

The Tic T500 USB Multi-Interface Stepper Motor Controller makes basic control of a stepper motor easy, with quick configuration over USB using our free software. The controller supports six control interfaces: USB, TTL serial, I²C, analog voltage (potentiometer), quadrature encoder, and hobby radio control (RC). This version incorporates an MPS MP6500 driver and male headers and terminal blocks are included but not soldered. It can operate from 4.5 V to 35 V and can deliver up to approximately 1.5 A per phase without a heat sink or forced air flow (or 2.5 A max with sufficient additional cooling).
