Thermoelectric coolers (TEC) operate according to the Peltier effect. The effect creates a temperature difference by transferring heat between two electrical junctions. When the current flows through the junctions of the two conductors, heat is removed at one junction and cooling occurs at the other. Therefore TEC`s can be used for heating and cooling,depending on which side you use. Either side will heat up or cool down very quickly until it reaches equilibrium, so the heat needs to be managed with a fan or heatsink to keep the process going.
