GY-26 Digital High-precision Compass Sensor Module (UART and I2C)

GY-26 is a low-cost digital compass module. The compass data is collected by utilizing a magnetoresistive sensor sensing the Earth's magnetic field to get an azimuth angle. The on-board 8-bit PIC16F690 microcontroller provides two modes of serial communication. A UART (TTL-level Tx/Rx) interface as well as I2C/IIC. The data is accessible by sending predefined ASCII commands over one of the chosen serial interfaces. The output is also in ASCII which can be converted to your desired format upon reception.

This module can be integrated into any system as long as a serial interface (UART or I2C) is present. Examples: hand-held electronic instruments, robot orientation/position, navigation system, telescope position, automotive compass, etc.

With a solid state compass design, it has a stable operation and accuracy. The surrounding magnetic interference cannot affect its operation.

** PLEASE CONSULT THE USER MANUAL IN THE ATTACHMENTS FIRST **

Remarks:

  • Always handle the compass with care and away from Electric Discharge. Use ESD proof bags.
  • This module has been tested with a 5VDC power supply; therefore, it is recommended to respect the electrical specifications listed below.
  • It is important to have common GROUND when this module is integrated into another circuit.
  • This module should be calibrated before use. Please consult the user manual.
  • It is important to place this module on a horizontally level surface for accurate readings.
  • A Serial-to-USB module should be used when this compass is interfacing a PC.
