Nichrome Wire (Nickel Chromium Wire) can be used in many applications in the classroom or lab.
It's functional characteristics are the same as nichrome wire. It's makeup is 15% Cr, 4% Al, Balance Fe. Maximum operating temperature is 1150°C. Density is 6.74g/cm^3
Many industrial and hobby hot wire foam cutters also use chromium wire. Chromium wire is also commonly used in ceramics, as an internal support structure to help some elements of clay sculptures hold their shape while they are still soft. Chromium wire is used because of its ability to withstand the high temperatures.
Note: The wire is sold by weight. The lengths are approximations based on the density, weight, and thickness of the wire.
