This soil moisture sensor unit is capable of measuring the resistance value between any material, preferably great for gardening applications.
Insert the sensor into the soil and connect in either directions two female DuPont cables into the unit. Connect the other end to the logic component on the end with the two male headers. On the opposite side of the logic component connect three wires for Vcc, Gnd and Analog output A0 or Digital output D0.
Using Arduino AnalogReadSerial.ino sketch example will make interfacing and programming a breeze. When the unit detects water the resistance value on the serial console will decrease, when the unit is dry the serial resistance will increase. Use the potentiometer on the logic component to adjust the accuracy if needed. It is not recommended to leave unit in soil for long durations, we recommend to use unit as a meter for a quick test. Ensure you clean the contacts and place them in a dry place after use.
