This is a triple GPIO expansion plate that is perfect for sharing GPIO pins between applications and circuits. Imagine you want to build a prototype circuit board for the raspberry pi, adding some temperature sensor or SD card reader might require the same pins. With this shield rather than pulling out a breadboard, you can simply connect the sensors onto the pi fairly quickly. This board also comes with headers already soldered in and a silkscreen that has all the pins labelled!
