ADC0809 8-bit µP Compatible Analog to Digital Converter with 8-Channel Analog Multiplexer Shield Module
The ADC0809 Data Acquisition Device (DAD) implement most of the elements of the standard data acquisition system on a single chip. It contains an 8-bit A/D converter, an 8-channel multiplexer with an address input latch, and associated control logic. This device provides most of the logic to interface to a variety of microcontrollers with the addition of a minimum number of parts which are included in the kit. This converter, the ADC0809, has an unadjusted error of ±1 LSB. This converter typically does a conversion in ∼100µs when using a 640kHz clock but can convert a single input in as little as ∼50µs.
This Analog-to-Digital Converter offers 8 analog input channels that can be selected using a 3-bit analog multiplexer (MUX). By selecting an analog voltage at the input an equivalent digital value can be found at the TRI-STATE® output pins (D0-D7). This value is in BCD (Binary Coded Decimal) and has to be converted to other user friendly formats (Binary, Decimal or Hex) for further analysis and processing.
