5995 USB to Multi-Protocol Serial Adapter: RS-232 / TTL UART / RS-485
This USB to Multi-Protocol Serial adapter provides support for RS232, TTL UART, RS485, and RS422 serial protocols, allowing easy interfacing between devices. It features screw terminals for quick, solder-free connections, and plugs directly into a computer's USB A port, with a reversible design that ensures the labels and LEDs are always visible.
Powered by the FTDI FT231 USB to serial converter chip, this adapter uses 5V logic and supports UART serial signals. It operates at signal rates from 300 baud to 3M baud, with FTDI drivers compatible with most operating systems. The RS232 side uses a UM213 signal level converter with ±8V logic levels, exposing all standard RS232 signals, and supporting speeds up to 250 kbps. For UART, only RX/TX and power lines are exposed, with a logic level of 5V. The RS485/RS422 signals are managed by MAX485 chips.
Additionally, the adapter provides 5V (up to 1A) and 3.3V (50mA) power outputs to support small projects, with matching ground connections. It features red "Power good" and green "Data transmission" LEDs for status indication.
Note that only one protocol can be used at a time due to the single USB-serial chip inside.
