6050-ADA, Adafruit Sunken USB Type C Breakout Board - Downstream Connection
This breakout board for a USB Type C connector is designed for slim builds where space is a priority. The 'sunken' connector straddles the PCB, allowing for a low-profile design compared to traditional horizontal or vertical USB-C breakouts. USB Type C offers a reversible connector, additional data pins, and higher current capacity. However, for most common projects, this breakout mimics the familiar USB 2.0 setup, with a resistor configuration that signals the upstream port to provide 5V and up to 1.5A of power, depending on the capabilities of the connected device. For typical use, you can connect VBUS for 5V input, GND for ground, and the D+ and D- pins for data transmission. The CC (Configuration Channel) and SBU (Sideband Use) pins can be used to monitor cable orientation or for specialized data transmission but can be left unconnected for simpler designs.
