3678 Adafruit I2S Stereo Decoder - UDA1334A Breakout
This UDA1334A I2S Stereo DAC breakout is designed to work with any I2S-output audio interface, offering an affordable yet high-quality solution. The NXP UDA1334A supports both 3.3V and 5V logic levels and can handle various formats by adjusting two configuration pins. It converts digital I2S data into a clear, analog, stereo line-level output. It also supports MCLK-less I2S interfaces, like the Raspberry Pi, thanks to a built-in PLL that generates the necessary clock from the bitclock signal.
The DAC accepts standard I2S inputs by default but can also handle 16-bit, 20-bit, or 24-bit left-justified data. While the DAC can be configured to accept an input system clock, it's pre-configured to generate its own, requiring only connections for Data In, Word Select (Left/Right Clock), and Bit Clock. Additionally, there is an optional mute pin and a de-emphasis filter.
The breakout includes ferrite beads, a low-dropout regulator, and the recommended band-pass filter for a clean audio output. Tests using a sine-wave generator from 20Hz to 20KHz showed no noticeable attenuation or distortion. Output can be connected via the 3.5mm stereo headphone jack or breadboard-friendly pads.
Each order includes one I2S Stereo DAC breakout and a header for optional soldering.
