Optical Limit Switch Breakout Board
This device employs an infrared miniature limit switch on a breakout board with a detachable JST connection cable included. We simply arrange to block the beam (thereby closing the switch) until the limit is hit, which unblocks the beam and opens the switch. This is how the 3D printer/CNC machine knows when to stop and reverse direction in its axis.
This delivers much better accurate results compared to its older brother, the mechanical endstops and serves to replace the limit switches on your 3D printer or CNC machine which can become worn after many many uses.
The wire the unit comes with is made to be long enough for a variety of machines. It attaches easily with a small screw or zip-tie. These are normally open, NPN switches.
Alternate applications include autonomous robot guidance, comes with all the components surface mounted for easy connection and LED to indicated when the axis is triggered.
(For CNC machine users, place this switch somewhere where chipped off material can't get in and trigger the switch by accident)
