RAMPS 1.4 V1.6 Arduino Mega Shield for 3D Printers
RepRap Arduino Mega Pololu Shield, or RAMPS for short. It is designed to fit the entire electronics needed for a RepRap-style 3D printer or any custom built 3D printer in one small package for low cost. The RAMPS interfaces an Arduino Mega with its powerful Atmega2562 processor which has plenty room for expansion when talking about 3D printers. The modular design includes plug in stepper drivers and extruder control electronics on an Arduino MEGA shield for easy service, part replacement, upgrade-ability and expansion.
What makes this board so special is that it consists of patch style mosfets that allow for a higher amperage handling in a stable, safe and reliable manner not to mention the large heatsink that helps dissipating the heat from them. In addition, the connectors are capable of dealing with higher amount of amperage than the traditional Ramps 1.4.
