The Omega2 Pro IoT computer is the next generation of Onion’s Linux-based, WiFi development board and the most powerful IoT computer Onion has made yet. It is a standalone device – the processor, memory, gigabytes of storage, and Wi-Fi are all built-in, and it’s smaller than a breadboard, making it easier than ever to build connected hardware applications. The storage is pre-loaded with the OpenWrt embedded Linux distro, so getting started is as easy as plugging in a Micro USB cable for power and taking a few minutes to go through the browser-based setup wizard.

The RFID/NFC Expansion for Onion Omega2 will bring a new world of exciting functionality and application to your Omega2 module. It plugs into your Onion Expansion, Arduino or Power Dock, and provides you with both NFC and RFID communication. This board makes use of the PN532 controller chip, which is the most popular NFC chip, and is embedded in most smart phones and devices that support NFC. It can read and write to tags and cards, communicate with phones (for example payment processing), and ‘act’ like an NFC tag.

The Arduino Dock R2 is a full Arduino Uno that allows your Omega2 to control the Arduino chip through a serial connection. It lets you to make use of all of your existing Arduino Shields and you can program it with the Arduino IDE, just like any other Arduino! We’ve also broken out the Omega2’s GPIOs, so you can use Expansions with the Arduino Dock R2 once you solder down the headers.

The Breadboard Dock is the perfect solution for building breadboard circuits with the Omega/2/2 PLUS. This Dock can be plugged into a breadboard, and the pins of the dock are mapped 1-to-1 as on the Omega. If you have been looking for ages to connect the omega to any breadboard, we finally carry the solution! No more need to build prototype boards for interfacing with a breadboard although no one is stopping you from making one. This is a great docking module as you will save hours trying to safely power your omega and breadboard circuits.

So what does this Onion Omega 2 Plus do? Basically it is a Raspberry Pi without the HDMI and USB ports. It has been shrunken down to about the size of a standard SD card. It does not run on 5v and runs a 580Mhz Processor with 128MB of memory. It is entirely wireless but has a MicroSD card port on the back for expanded storage space. Since the price is so low, you can purchase an expansion board for additional Ethernet connectivity, power by USB, insert OLED screens, GPS module, Bluetooth 4.0 LE module, and run on a 2G/3G platform. You can make it work like an Arduino or plug into a breadboard with the adapter. The possibilities are endless!

The Power Dock allows you to use any 3.7V LiPo battery to power your Omega and then charge the battery when it’s out of juice. It has the same form factor as the Expansion Dock and can also be used in the same way: no battery and receiving power through the Micro USB port. The Dock breaks out the Omega’s GPIO pins so you can use them to control external circuits or connect Expansion boards to extend the functionality of your Omega.

The Relay Expansion enables your Omega to control two other, independent electrical circuits. The circuits are isolated from the Omega and can operate at much higher or lower voltages than the Omega. So you can control other circuits you’ve built or small household appliances rated up to 60W. This Expansion is perfect for home automation projects since it gives you the ability to control other devices remotely using your Omega.
