XL2596T-3.3, IC, 3.3volt PWM Stepdown DC/DC Buck Converter TO-220-5
The XL2596 is a 150 KHz fixed frequency PWM buck (step-down) DC/DC converter capable of driving a 3A load with high efficiency, low ripple and excellent line and load regulation. Requiring minimal external components, the controller is simple to operate and includes internal frequency compensation and a fixed frequency oscillator.
The PWM control circuit is capable of linear duty cycle adjustment from 0 to 100%. An activation function and an overcurrent protection function are integrated. When the second current limiting function occurs, the operating frequency is reduced from 150KHz to 50KHz. An internal compensation block is integrated to minimize the number of external components.

Pin #: Designation
1. VIN
Input pin for the supply voltage. The XL2596 operates from 4.5V to 40V DC. Bypass Vin to GND with an appropriately sized capacitor to eliminate noise on the input.
2. OUTPUT
Output pin of the power switch (SW). The output is the switch node that powers the output.
3. GND
Grounding pin. Special attention must be paid to the layout. This pin should be placed outside the ground path between the Schottky diode and the output capacitor to prevent switching current spikes from inducing voltage noise in the XL2596.
4. Feedback
Feedback pin (FB). Using an external resistor divider network, the feedback senses the output voltage and regulates it. The feedback threshold voltage is 1.23V.
5.ON/OFF
Activation pin. Point the ON/OFF pin down to turn the device on, point it up to turn it off. By default, it is floating and low.
