IRF540 - 1 Channel 100VDC 20A N-Channel MOSFET Switch
This is a high voltage and current switch based on the IRF540, the breakout board allows users to connect a 5v microcontrollers to operate high wattage devices without worrying about frying their microcontroller. Essentially this device operates like a relay with the exception that a relay can withstand unexpected surge currents caused by parasitic capacitances present in any circuit, cables, and so on. An unfortunate trade-off, however, is that the larger contacts require larger package sizes.Whereas this electronic switch takes less space offering almost the same features.
To use this device, simply connect three female headers to this board for signal (s) power (+) and ground (-).
