Included is one Pololu 1418 Zumo chassis. This chassis is small, tracked robot platform that is less than 10 cm on each side, allowing it to qualify for Mini Sumo competitions. The main body is composed of black ABS and features a compartment for four AA batteries (not included) and sockets for two micro metal gearmotors. It is an unassembled kit with two silicone tracks, two drive and two idler sprockets, a 1/16″ acrylic mounting plate, and mounting hardware. |

Included is one 2508 Pololu shield. This shield makes it easy to build an Arduino-controlled Zumo robot. The shield mounts onto an assembled Zumo chassis, connecting directly to the chassis’s battery terminals and motors, and the Arduino plugs into the shield, face down. This shield includes dual motor drivers, a buzzer for playing simple sounds and music, a user pushbutton, and a 3-axis accelerometer, compass, and gyroscope. The shield boosts the battery voltage to power the Arduino, and it breaks out the Arduino I/O lines, reset button, and user LED for convenient access and to accommodate additional sensors for things like obstacle and edge detection. |

Included is one 1410 Sumo blade. This 0.036″-thick stainless steel plate can be mounted to the front of the Zumo chassis to create a slanted, bulldozer-like blade for pushing around objects, such as other mini-sumo robots. |

Included is a full size 35 page color manual with detailed instructions on assembly and programming. Of course all the information required is on the Pololu website, but some students find it easier to also flip through a printed manual. |

Included is the Arduino UNO by ABRA. Arduino is an open-source physical computing platform based on a simple i/o board and a development environment that implements the Processing/Wiring language. |

Included are two 1101 gearmotors.This gearmotor is a miniature (0.94" x 0.39" x 0.47"), high-quality, high-power motor with 100:1 metal gearbox, similar to Sanyo’s popular 12 mm gearmotors. These units have a 0.365"-long, 3 mm-diameter D-shaped output shaft. Key specs at 6 V: 320 RPM and 80 mA free-run, 30 oz-in (2.2 kg-cm) and 1.6 A stall. |

Included is one 1419 Zumo reflectance sensor array. It provides an easy way to add line sensing or edge detection to a Zumo robot. It features six separate reflectance sensors, each consisting of an IR emitter coupled with a phototransistor that responds based on how much emitter light is reflected back to it. The two outside sensors are positioned at the very edges of the module to maximize their usefulness as edge detectors (e.g. for seeing the white edge of a sumo ring) while the four inner sensors are closer together for better detecting lines. |
