This Piezoelectric element can turn any mechanical energy into electrical energy (AC). For this reason, you can use it as a knock or tap sensor. You can also implement it in any of your Arduino projects by connecting it to the analog inputs of the microcontroller (see link for more details). You can feed the sensor AC voltage as well. This (coupled with the right frequency) can turn the element into a buzzer or speaker. You won’t need to worry about soldering any leads as they come with pre-soldered red and black wires. Note that this sensor in particular has a diameter of 35mm.

Underneath the plastic enclosure sits a 30mm diameter piezo element that is nicely enclosed with mounting holes so you can attach easily to your desired surface. The way Piezo works is by converting vibration to voltage and vise-versa, using a very thin and vibration-sensitive mesh. Meaning that it can be used as a buzzer or it can be used to detect vibrations which cause the piezo to generate analog voltage that a micro controller can read.

This 14x4mm buzzer will require a 100 ohm resistor on the red wire to a PWM source or ac voltage in order to generate a tone. Unlike the active buzzer that only requires a constant voltage this passive buzzer will need a microcontroller to help it run. We recommend using this product with an Arduino Uno. Excellent for a simple project use as the buzzer not that loud compared to the BUZ-120.
