The FS-L-0073-103-ST low cost 2.9" flex sensor manufactured by Spectra Symbol is an ABRA special. It is basically an instructional kit which includes a 2.9" special edition flex sensor, one 22K resistor, and a 3 page instruction sheet that has a simple exercise on how to sense a bend with a flex sensor and arduino. Of course this low cost flex sensor can be used for any other activity. We just include these extras as a bonus.
As the sensor is flexed, the resistance across the sensor increases. The resistance of the flex sensor changes when the metal pads are on the outside of the bend (text on inside of bend). Connector is 0.1" spaced and bread board friendly. Check datasheet for full specifications.
• Angle Displacement Measurement
• Possible Uses: Robotics, Gaming (virtual motion), Medical Devices, Computer Peripherals, Musical Instruments, Physical Therapy
• Simple Construction
• Low Profile
• Bends and Flexes physically with motion device
• Connector: Solder Tab
• Model: Linear
• Resistance: ≤0.43mm (0.017")
Note: Please refrain from flexing or straining this sensor at the base. The usable range of the sensor can be flexed without a problem, but care should be taken to minimize flexing outside of the usable range. For best results, securely mount the base and bottom portion and only allow the actual flex sensor to flex.
