uFL connectors are very small surface-mount parts used when an external RF antena is desired but a big bulky SMA connector takes up too much space. We use this part on our GPS and WiFi boards, they're great!

This is great in conjunction with any 16-pin IDC cables. It comes in two parts, a 'pin-through' socket and a male header. The socket straddles the center of a breadboard or Perma-Proto and then header plugs into the top of the socket.

The 74LVC245 is designed so that even when it runs at 1.8V, it still happily accepts 5V signals in one pin and converts it to a lower logic level on the opposite pin. This chip is only for digital signals, it doesn't convert analog signals (you need an op amp for that).
